Be Snag Aware While Hiking

Off
Gallatin County Emergency Management

With early access to many trails around the area recreationalists are encouraged to keep their eyes open for damaged trees that are ready to fall, known as snags.  Many trails have trees leaning across them that could fall to the ground at any time.  These trees likely  fell over during the winter or from the wind events this past month.  Regardless of how they came to rest where they are, if you see a tree leaning use caution around it and if possible don’t pass under it.

Remember, Be Snag Aware – Snags can fall at any time.
