Manhattan Water Discoloration

Off
Gallatin County Emergency Management

The Town of Manhattan is experiencing increased turbidity in the water transmission lines. This is causing the water to be discolored. One of the main pumps was recently repaired and pumps at a much higher pressure than in the past. That, along with the constant pressure from the water tower and many people in town running sprinker systems has caused some of the mineral deposits built up on the walls of the pipes to release. The water has been tested and is clear of any bacterial components. All of the sources themselves have also been tested. We are hoping to do some flushing of the lines to try to move the deposits out. This may take some time, so please be patient.
