Planning for Special Needs

needs

Gallatin County recommends that individuals, or facilities, that have special needs utilize the same planning steps as everyone else. The basic thought is that everyone should be prepared to be self sufficient with what they personally need for at least 72 hours. Everyone’s needs are a little bit different, and this should be taken into account in your planning. Items such as medications and special transportation requirements are examples of person specific requirements that should be taken into account. Some items that may require special attention in your planning include:

  • Do you have a service animal?
  • Do you have the ability to receive emergency notifications, or do you need special notification devices?
  • Will you need assistance with transportation?
  • Do you have special dietary needs?
  • Are you on medication?
  • Do you often have large numbers of people that might need assistance during an emergency at your facility?
